Polish: Some shaped panels will be processed on CNC machines which will result in a different finish to that provided by the straight-line edge and double edger machines. If you have shaped and rectangles on the same order and need the same finish this must be advised at enquiry/order stage, with internal notches a radius of 15mm will be required to have a full polish along the edge of the cut out, less than a 15mm radius will result in two different finishes and finish heights.
Toughening Stamps: All glass will be stamped with an edge or face stamp; any preference must be advised at time of order please send drawings if stamps are required in a certain position.
Laminated: All toughened laminated will be produced using a clear PVB interlayer, other interlayers are available upon request.

Deliveries: All glass will be loaded onto vans for loose unloading at customers premises, door to door.
Inspection: All glass supplied by must be inspected to GGF/BS EN guidelines, without exception, at right angles to the glass in normal daylight and from 3 metres away and without any visible moisture on the surface of the glass. The use of strong lamps or magnifying glasses are not permitted, nor is the marking of any defects seen at close range to make them visible at
the stated distance. Obtrusiveness of faults shall be judged by looking through the glass and not at it.
Anisotropy: The thermal toughening process produces areas of different stress in the cross section or the glass. These areas of stress produce a bi-refringent effect in the glass, which is visible in polarised light. The viewing of thermally toughened soda lime silicate safety glass under polarised light results in areas of stress showing up as coloured zones. These zones are
known as leopard spots, polarised light occurs in normal daylight. The amount of polarised light depends on the weather and the angle of the sun. The Bi-refringent effect is more noticeable either at a glancing angle or through polarised spectacles.
Nickel Sulphide Inclusions: On rare occasions toughened glass can break
spontaneously without any applied load, one reason is small nickel sulphide inclusions that may be present in the float glass itself. Breakages can occur at any time in the future and are not a fault in the toughened process and any remakes required will be chargeable. HST is recommended to reduce the risk but is not a 100% guarantee.
Quotations: All quotations supplied by Addison Glass & Windscreens Ltd must be checked by the person placing the order, Addison Glass & Windscreens Ltd will take no responsibility for any errors made if orders placed incorrect against the quote.
